We like to think that we honour ALL of our war veterans in Canada. But that isn't entirely true. Take war of 1812 vets for example.
Those who fought at Crysler's Farm and Chateauguay -- arguably saving Canada -- still haven't been awarded battle honours or distinctions.
Just imagine, the country is being invaded, you grab your gun to protect your family and land. Maybe you're wounded, or even die fighting. You'd think your government would be grateful.
But apparently anything that happened before Confederation isn't considered true Canadian history -- at least according to the Department of National Defence.
If you feel strongly that all Canadian veterans should be honoured, contact the Minister of Defence and tell him.
